A new driver has just begun his career putting in time behind the wheel. My son! What? Yes, my son Calvin is now 15 years old and the proud owner of a brand new learner's permit. I took him out driving this past Saturday and Sunday and he is already getting the hang of driving in circles and maintaining a steady speed. He needs to work a bit on using his turn signals but at least he hasn't hit any parked cars yet.
To be honest I am rather enjoying the opportunity to help my son learn this new lifeskill. Talk about a skill that he will be utilizing the rest of his life. When it comes to driving you certainly can't say "when will I use this in real life?" and have a point. I know at least for me, I have been driving almost daily since I started almost 30 years ago.
For all of you who shudder at the sight of "student" drivers steer clear of the streets in Thornton Colorado. You never know when Calvin may be headed your way.
I assume he's done with his lessons as of now. So how is he on the road? Has he been applying the lessons well? If he does, you should think about rewarding him with a car of his own.
