Last week my kids were off from school, so our family of 5 was eating 3 meals a day, all at home. Our dishwasher started getting more of a workout than it's used to. Normally we run the dishwasher on average about once a day. Then the weekend came and we started getting ready for our Christmas dinner. More dishes, more pots, more pans. Which also meant more soap, more water, and more loading of the dishwasher. For our Christmas meal we used, of course, the fine china (I guess we have to justify its existence at least once a year) for 7 place settings (we had 2 guests) which included a dinner plate, a salad plate, sliverware and a glass. It could have been even more. (We had the dessert plates out, but never used them.) After dinner we loaded the dishwasher for the 2nd time that day and turned it on.
That was Monday. My family left for Iowa on Tuesday morning. The dishwasher hasn't been on since. Before my family left we were running the dishwasher easily 2 times a day, now it has sat idle for almost 72 hours. It deserves a break and I am just the man for the job.
How many plates and glasses does one person really need to use anyway?
Your dishwasher and my dishwasher could start a support group!

Don't they put sinks, running water and sponges in modern homes these days? :^) Ahh, the landfills love our paper plates....
